Thomas Hunter papers, 1849-1850.

The Hunter papers contain transcripts of two letters from Thomas Hunter to his relatives in Oswego, New York from the gold fields of California (1849 and 1850). The letters describe his voyage around Cape Horn, his arrival in San Francisco, and the conditions of the mining community.
